LDM was born in Licking County OH.

In 1848 (age 19), he married Phydelia Smith (age 17).  They had 7 children together including our William Elexander Munselle.

Phydelia

On July 20, 1869, LDM filed for divorce for abandonment.  It seems Phydelia ran away, back to IL, with Mr. Marcellus King. The two married in IL in 1873, but divorced in 1879.

Phydelia died in IL in 1885 age 48.

During the Civil War, LDM enlisted as a private in the Union Army, Illinois 6th Cavalry,  Company H (Mt. Vernon IL) on February 27, 1864.  He was promoted to “full saddler”

He was mustered out on June 12, 1865. He was 36 when he enlisted which is a little old for a new soldier.

On Apr 5, 1870, he married Margaret Emily Derickson Bodine.

In 1889, they moved to San Saba TX to grow pecan and fruit trees. Their farm was 2.5 miles north of Richland Springs TX.  I drove there once and saw the tree farm.

He died in 1907 age 79 of “autointoxication and general prostration” per his death certificate.  He got drunk, fell over, and died.

He and Margaret are buried in Richland Springs Cemetery.
