Robert (Bobby) Solomon

This handsome sailor is my Uncle Bobby. He enlisted as a Pharmacist Mate in the US Navy in 1945. He had just received orders to ship out to the Pacific Theatre for combat duty in the invasion of Japan when the Atomic bomb was dropped and World War Two ended. He spent the rest of his tour in Massachusetts giving out processing physicals for returning GIs.

After the war, he became an optometrist, becoming the first person in the family to earn a doctorate. He also served as an officer on the NJ State Board of Optometry.
